Writing Good Article Titles is Key to Success

Have you just written a great article that you know people are going to love? That's good, but a great article is useless if nobody can find it. Writing good article titles is vital if you want to be sure your material gets read.

Why is the article title so important? The title is of course the first thing your audience will see. If it doesn't capture the attention of your readers, they will simply look for something more interesting.

Another reason writing a good article title is so important is because it is crawled by the search engine spiders before anything else. Good keywords are important in the title so that the search engines know what the article is about.

How do you write a good title? Use the following tips to help you compose titles that will catch the attention of your audience and get your article found by the search engines.

1. Put your keywords in the first part of your title. The first 3 or 4 words of your title have the most importance for the search engines. Try to keep these words at the beginning while still making the title sound interesting.

2. Capture the readers attention. The best way to do this is by searching for the popular keywords in your niche. These words are obviously what people are using when they search for the information they want. Give them what they are looking for, and they will reward you by reading your article.

3. Try to keep your titles short, 5 words or less. If this isn't possible, make sure to arrange the title so that your keywords are at the front. If your keywords are "cat psychology", write a long title this way: "Cat Psychology-Could This Explain Why Your Cat Acts Crazy?"

That last example may be a little strange, but it got your attention, didn't it? That is the point of using your keywords at the beginning of your title. They will be the first thing your reader sees, so keep them as visible as possible.

Once you have a good title, be sure to keep your article focused on the subject of the title. There is nothing worse for a reader than to read an article that has nothing to do with what the title promised. Stay as closely on topic as possible.

As you can see, writing good article titles is an essential skill in article writing and marketing. Capture the readers attention, be keyword friendly to the search engines, and use words that you know your readers are searching for. These tips will greatly increase the chances of your article being found and read.
